Plymouth, Ind. – The Bobcats stood tall at the NJCAA Division II Men's National Championship last week, where they finished in sixth place after 72 holes. This marks the second straight year that SCC has placed inside the Top-10 at the national tournament, and the second-best finish in program history.

"It was valuable for our team to experience the pressure of being in contention at such a major event," Head Coach Calvin Freeman said. "That's something that our players can build on moving forward."

After starting the tournament tied for first at even-par, the team fought hard against a demanding setup at Swan Lake Golf Resort. The Bobcats were inside the top six scores in each of the first three rounds, and finished at 34 over par after four rounds, only one stroke short of a Top-5 finish.

Cael Peters led the team at the tournament. He finished with a 72-hole score of 7-over-par after he started the tournament with a 67 (-5) to post the second-lowest 18-hole score at the tournament. He followed it up with 76, 78, and a 74 to finish the tournament tied for 11th place.

Tate Redinger tied for 21st place as an individual at 9-over-par. He shot an opening round of 74, and finished the tournament with a 72, the third 18-hole score of even-par or better for the team.

Dylan Dahlstedt tied for 39th place at 12-over-par. He opened the tournament with a 73 in round one and a 74 in round two, both good for second on the team. He finished with a 76 and a 77 in the final two rounds.

Hayden Delaloye, Prestin Vilai, and Nick Fleming were subs for at least one round during the tournament. Delaloye played the first, second and final rounds to a score of 12-over-par. Vilai was a sub for the first round, but in the second round he posted the team low-score of 70. He shot 73 in the third round and finished the tournament with an 80, finishing with a 54-hole score of 7-over-par. Nick Fleming played the first and third rounds, shooting 77 and 83, respectively.

Peters and Redinger earned All-American honors for their performance, a testament to their grit and growth over the course of the season.

"I'm incredibly proud of the newcomers for earning All-American honors," Freeman said. "They were consistent and reliable all season, and both will have another opportunity next year. With the recruits that we have coming in, and the quality players returning, I am hopeful we'll have a chance to compete for a national title next year."

The SCC men were also recognized with the 2026 NJCAA Sportsmanship Award, given to the squad that best exemplifies the values of competitive spirit at the NJCAA.

"I especially want to recognize our sophomores as they move on," Freeman said. "They were coachable, high-character individuals who made my job much easier, and I know they'll become leaders and valuable contributors wherever they go next."
