The Southeast CC Men's Golf team set a school record 54-hole score of 13 under par at the Blue River Classic, held at the Highlands Golf Club in Lincoln, NE. Individually, Hayden Delaloye tied the lowest 9-hole score in SCC history (29, -7)
The top five finishing teams are as follows:
1. Southeast CC -13
2. Doane University -6
3. Iowa Western CC  -2
4. Doane University (B)  +29
5. Dordt College  +32

Southeast CC Head Coach Calvin Freeman commented on the performance. "It's a great feeling to start the year with a win. I'm especially proud of Hayden Delaloye, who won his first college tournament." "It's encouraging to see solid play out of our newcomers, as well as the improvements over the past year from our returning players." Freeman adds, "In the past, we've underachieved at this event, trying to balance the responsibilities of beginning a new school year, while getting tournament ready. To see our guys come out sharp right away is really encouraging, and it gives us confidence moving forward." "We have a tight-knit group, but when it's time to play, they want to beat each other just as much as they want to beat other teams. That will push us towards continued improvement throughout the year." Freeman appears to have done another masterful job of recruiting, but one tournament doesn't make a season. "When you have the depth that we have, every shot is going to matter. We can't get complacent, and we need to keep our competitive edge throughout the rest of the fall."
