The SCC Men's Golf Team has earned another invite to the NJCAA National Tournament again this year. The event will be held on May 20th through the 23rd at the Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana. Head Coach Calvin Freeman set's the stage in this preview.
"I'm excited to be returning to nationals after making it through one of the toughest districts in NJCAA golf." "The guys did a great job of grinding it out and sticking to the strategy we set in the practice round the whole tournament." "Everybody contributed in important moments throughout the week, and we kept a great balance of staying loose and remaining focused. Although we didn't play our best golf, we led the field in pars and had the fewest double bogeys, which will be a good recipe for success going into nationals."
Freeman has done a nice job of coaching here, he has a young team that has matured throughout the season."The team has five newcomers out of the six guys heading to nationals. I'm impressed with the amount of improving and maturing that has occurred this year, and I'm excited for what the future holds."
"Swan Lake Resort is a fantastic venue for the national tournament, and I feel it suits our style of play well. It's a long week, so we'll have to pace ourselves and trust that we have a solid game plan going in. More than anything, this will be great exposure for our guys as they move on after SCC, as well as experience they'll have for the rest of their lives.
