Mitch Hobza enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Southeast Community College men’s basketball program.
A native of Hickman, Nebraska, Hobza brings experience in college basketball operations, player development, coaching, scouting, and film analysis. Before joining Southeast, he served as a student manager with the University of Nebraska men’s basketball program from 2023 to 2026. In that role, he assisted the coaching staff during practices, rebounded during player-development workouts, coded scouting film, and supported gameday and recruiting operations.
Hobza has also gained extensive coaching experience with Lincoln Supreme Basketball, where he has worked since 2022. He has served as a head and assistant coach for several youth and AAU teams, working with athletes from the elementary level through 16U competition. His additional responsibilities have included serving as a camp coach, site supervisor, referee, and tryout evaluator.
From 2022 to 2023, Hobza served as an assistant freshman coach with the Lincoln Pius X boys basketball program. He also worked with the Norris boy's basketball program from 2022 to 2025 as a freshman tournament coach, youth camp coach and supervisor, and tryout evaluator.
Hobza is completing his bachelor’s degree in Sports Media and Communication at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, along with a minor in coaching. He is expected to graduate in December 2026.
