The Southeast Community College baseball team is peaking at the right time, at the end of the season. The Bobcats took the Region 9 postseason tournament and will host the Western Regional this Thursday in Beatrice, NE.

Southeast put four nice wins together to win the championship after dropping the first game of the tournament 9-5 against McCook CC on Friday.

They beat McCook CC 12-9 and Western NE CC 11-4 on Saturday.

They took two from the conference leaders, Northeastern CC on Sunday, 14-10 and 3-1.

Associate Head Coach Tyson Parks had nothing but respect for his team after grabbing the title. "We're just proud of the kids. They fought all year long. Dion and I have been through this where things don't go like you may have planned. This season is proof of that." "It was a special two days at the ballpark"

The Bobcats have put it all together in April and May. They are 22-4 in their last 26 games. Parks says, "Once we got our line up set and defined some rolls for the guys, it started to click. There are a lot of moving parts and once we got things ironed out, things turned for us. " SCC had a record of 9-20 before going on this heater.They'll take a 31-24 record into the Western Districts. 

The Western District line up is set, and games will be hosted at Christenson Field in Beatrice. The field is made up of some powerhouse ball clubs.

SCC will take on Central Arizona at noon on Thursday. Last year's national champion Salt Lake Community College will face Northeastern Junior College at 3 p.m.

This is the first time in three years Southeast will host rather Western District games, and Parks says fan support is a big deal. "We're inviting everyone to come out and support these guys. The Western District is the best in junior college baseball."
