The Bobcats hosted the Rough Riders of Luna Community College in a two-day series over the weekend and walked away with three double-digit victories and a series sweep.
Bats were rolling immediately for SCC in Game 1. Two runs were scored in the first inning, and three different players recorded home runs during the game.
Gabe Dalton and
Brady Hunt each had one home run, and
Kadyn Martinez hit two.
Eight players recorded hits in the outing, highlighted by a six-run fourth inning that catapulted the Bobcats into a lead they would not relinquish.
Jordan Lemon took the mound for SCC and pitched five innings and a third, throwing five strikeouts and allowing two earned runs before being relieved by
Will Flege, who notched three strikeouts to record a save with a final score of 9-4.
In Game 2 it was more of the same, as Dalton and Martinez hit another home run each.
Jordan Monroe also went yard, and
Jacob Perrin hit it over the fence twice. The Bobcats scored 12 runs in the first four innings against the Rough Riders' two, and each team would only score one more for the rest of Thursday's action.
Wade Spencer pitched the win, throwing five and two-thirds innings before O'Brien came in. The duo combined for seven strikeouts in SCC's 13-3 win.
On Friday, SCC kept the pressure on and defeated Luna 17-6 in six innings in Game 3.
Jack Hogan hit two home runs, and Perrin and Monroe added one each. The Bobcats led 10-6 after the third inning, and opened the floodgates in the sixth inning with six runs to capture the series win.
Van Haneberg pitched four innings to record the win, relieved by
Cael Clancy.
In the final game of the series, it was an avalanche of runs in the first inning. SCC rounded the bases 15 times, and eight players recorded an RBI in the game and Hogan recorded a home run. The final score was 18-3.
Crew Moeller pitched three innings and the win, allowing only one hit and throwing six strikeouts.
The Bobcats are on the road this weekend facing Lamar Community College starting Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
