The Southeast CC Women's Basketball team bounced back big time from a demoralizing defeat to the hands of Johnson County CC last Tuesday night. The 2nd ranked Cavaliers laid one on SCC 104-44. The Bobcats didn't let JCCC beat them twice as they came through with an 82 to 75 win at home over the Tritons of Iowa Central Sunday afternoon at the Lincoln Campus Gym. It was ICCC's first loss of the season. SCC improves to 4 and 2 on the year with the win. Head Coach Joel Wooton got to the point in a brief post game comment. "If you would have told me this team would be 4 and 2 at the point, I would not have believed you. I'm very pleased and proud of the way this team is playing right now." Wooton and Assistant Coach Ashley Franklin have the Bobcats playing sticky defense, and a fast paced offense, a trademark of the Wooton coaching style. Fr.
Aleziah Anderson had a wonderful performance with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals. She was also rock solid from the line, hitting on 9 of 10 free throw attempts. Fr.
Jessica Wertenberger was workmanlike with a double-double. She had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Fr. Point Guard
Sophie Nguyen added 13 points. Fr.
Monica Gutierrez provided a spark off the bench, and provided the Bobcats with a late game spark, hitting back-to-back 3 pointers down the stretch. She finished with 8 points. Southeast is on the road for a series of games before returning home on November 30th as they host Kansas City Kansas CC.
