First year Head Coach Saundra Proctor is punching all the right buttons as her team comes down the stretch. The Cat's outlasted the Otero Rattlers last night 72 to 68. Proctor did a masterful job of keeping key players eligible after they got in early foul trouble. Most notably,
Makayla Lemelle and
Jada Smith. Those two pitched in 17 and 22 points respectively. Smith is coming off the bench to provide a nice second wave of offense for SCC. Southeast is also getting hustle performances from key players like
Jasmine McKenzie. The sophomore had a stat line that included 10 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, a steal and two blocks. It's that kind of play that keeps opponents on their heals. The Cat's are 6 and 19 overall with another home game coming this Saturday against Trinidad State. Proctor is also trying to keep her squad fresh down the stretch. "We're trying to go every other day with heavy work just to keep the players energy up. This is the point in the season where it's a grind so we're keeping that in mind. It's paying off."
