Coach Saundra Proctor begins her first year as Head Coach of Southeast Community College after a successful two-year stint as Head Coach for Highland Community College Women’s Basketball team from 2023-2025. During her two years with the Scotties, Coach Proctor led the Women’s Basketball program to a 45-20 record, including finishing the season #11 in the nation after being ranked for the entire season and a Region 6 Division II Conference Championship and Plains District Championship. Coach Proctor was also named 2025 Plains District Coach of The Year. Coach Proctor’s Scotties were led by Cameron McNamara, University of North Alabama signee who finished the season as KJCCC Conference Tournament MVP, KJCCC Player of the Year and NJCAA First Team All American.
Coach Proctor began her coaching journey in 2013 after a successful playing career with Northeastern Junior College ('08) and Shaw University ('11) women's basketball programs a few years prior. Starting as a volunteer assistant at Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, PA, Saundra's first season ended with a 11-11 record. That summer, Coach Proctor was moved from volunteer assistant to a paid position and afforded the opportunity to develop the offseason strength and conditioning program that the Harrisburg Lady Cougars would use for the next few years.Â
Coach Proctor also began coaching under Central Pennsylvania Elite in 2015, run by parents of University of Maryland and WNBA star Alyssa Thomas. During Coach Proctor's first season coaching AAU, she had six rising seniors, all 6 of whom would go on to college, 5 of them competing at the college level from Robert Morris University, Messiah College, Elizabethtown College, Shippensburg University, and Penn State University Harrisburg.  Â
The next season at Harrisburg High School, the Lady Cougars posted a record of 20-6 and continued with that success over the next 2 years with records of 20-5 in the 2016-17 season while being the runner up in the District 3- 5A championship. The following year, the Lady Cougars posted a 28-4 record along with a Conference, Regional and District 3-5A Championship. The team was knocked out of the state playoffs in the quarterfinals.  Â
Through continued success with the high school program, Coach Proctor and the rest of the Harrisburg staff were able to build connections with coaches to assist in recruiting athletes and helping build our young ladies and help them become productive young women and young athletes. While being at Harrisburg High, Coach Proctor's players were able to secure offers from schools like Providence College, Rider University, Delaware State University, Wagner University, Lackawanna Community College, Mansfield University, Shippensburg University, Millersville University, along with a host of others.  Â
Upon returning to Denver, Coach Proctor became assistant coach for Overland High School and Head Coach for Force Basketball AAU's inaugural season. In September of 2021, Coach Proctor began her college coaching journey with Colby Community College in Colby, KS. Coach Proctor returned to her alma mater Northeastern Junior College in January of 2023 to fill the role of Assistant Coach, coaching under Dave Huss, who was her Assistant Coach during her time at NJC. Â
Since coaching at the Junior College level, Coach Proctor has had players earn scholarships and move on to play at High Point University, Alcorn State, Ottowa University, Governors State University, Appalachian State, University of North Alabama, Cal University of PA, St Andrews University, and many others.Â
Originally from Denver, CO, Coach Proctor was a graduate of Denver East High School and was ranked in DPL in scoring and rebounds. Coach Proctor was also a member of the 2006-2007 NJC Plainswomen team that went 25-7. After graduating from NJC with her associate's degree in criminal justice/psychology, Coach Proctor moved on to Shaw University, who was ranked #19 in the nation during the 2009-2010 season. Coach Proctor graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 2011.Â
Coach Proctor was hired in March of 2025 as Head Women's Basketball Coach of Southeast Community College and began working in April. Coach Proctor has 12-year-old twin daughters, Kendall & Kennedy. Â
