NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Southeast Community College started strong at the North Platte Invitational on Friday, but fell short against tough competition in the following games.

 The Bobcats opened the regular season with a 3-0 sweep over Colorado Northwestern Community College, showcasing their offensive efficiency with a .310 hitting percentage and 12 service aces. 

Alivia Clemmons had a perfect attack percentage of 1.000, and recorded eight kills without an error, along with five service aces. Paige Slingsby contributed with nine kills and a solo block, finishing with a .500 hitting percentage. Hannah Ehrenberg added nine kills on 20 attempts for a .450 hitting percentage and two service aces, while Mara Franke provided a strong setting performance with 13 assists and one service ace. 

In a contrasting performance on Friday evening, SCC was swept by Seward County in close sets. The Bobcats registered 31 kills and 46 digs in the loss. 

Neveah Vacha led the defensive effort with 18 digs, while Brecklyn Hammond recorded 11 assists and one service ace. Ehrenberg posted eight kills on 21 attempts. Clemmons recorded four block assists and four kills on five attempts, hitting .600.

On Saturday, SCC fell to Gillette College in three straight sets. Despite the loss, the Bobcats recorded seven service aces and two solo blocks. 

Ehrenberg again led the team with 12 kills on 26 attempts with a hitting percentage of .346. Franke contributed 15 assists and one ace, while Gracen Hughes executed three kills on three attempts for a perfect hitting percentage of 1.000. Vacha led the defense with 10 digs.

In the final game of the tournament, the Bobcats faced Laramie County Community College, ultimately losing 1-3. 

The Bobcats started strong with a .500 hitting percentage in the first set but struggled to maintain that level throughout the match. Vacha recorded 31 digs, and Ehrenberg was a key contributor with 17 points. Hope Preston added 10 kills and two solo blocks.

Looking ahead, the Bobcats will face Southwestern Community College on Monday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. in Creston, Iowa.
