Beatrice, Neb. - The Bobcats continued their recent success with a weekend sweep at home over North Platte Community College. The Knights visited Beatrice with a record of 2-22 on the year, while SCC holds a record of 22-15, good for third in Region 9.
Southeast 11 – North Platte 1
The Bobcats brought in eight runs in the second inning and never let up to defeat NPCC 11-1 in five innings.
Brianna Houchin led SCC with three RBI and
Gracie Moe,
Keira Carswell and
Lexi Paskach each recorded two hits. The Bobcats had 11 hits and no errors in the game.
Kinsley Mohan was on the mound for SCC and threw eight strikeouts and allowed only three hits through four shutout innings before the Knights notched their only run in the final inning.
Southeast 15 – North Platte 1
Another quick start for the Bobcats brought in five runs in the first inning, and North Platte responded with a run in their half of the inning.
SCC then scored seven runs on seven hits in the second inning, including a home run by Carswell. She hit another home run in the fourth inning to record a total of 4 RBI on 2 home runs on the day.
Seinna McEntire was on the mound for the Bobcats. She notched four strikeouts and allowed three hits in four innings.
Addisyn Thompson allowed only one hit in one inning as relief.
Southeast 14 – North Platte 12
In the closest game of the weekend the Bobcats once again started hot, jumping to an 11-0 lead after three innings. The third inning saw SCC score five runs on four hits.
The Knights responded with a grand slam and another home run to highlight an eight-run effort in the fourth inning. Â
A home run from
Tatum Heimerman and a single from Carswell scored two more runs in the fifth for the Bobcats, but North Platte responded again with a four run effort to bring the game within one run, and a Paskach double RBI made it 14-12 in the bottom of the sixth.
SCC notched 14 hits, with Heimerman, Carswell and Paskach leading the team with three apiece. North Platte tallied 20 hits in the Sunday morning slugfest.
Mohan started the game pitching and allowed 12 hits with three strikeouts. McEntire came in for relief and pitched three and two-thirds innings. She surrendered eight hits with one strikeout.
Southeast 10 – North Platte 2
In the final game of the series the Bobcats got on the board in the first inning courtesy of a fly out by
Reyse Zobel. An RBI double by the Knights in the top of the second brought the first tie of the series, but it didn't last long.
Moe led an explosive third inning with an RBI double that brought in three runners, and SCC scored five total to make it 6-1.
Zobel and Moe would each record RBI's in the fourth inning to cap off a dominant batting performance on the weekend by the Bobcats, ending the final game 10-2 after five innings.
Thompson began the game for SCC and allowed six hits in four innings with two strikeouts. Mohan threw a scoreless inning in relief with two strikeouts.
The Bobcats are back in action on Thursday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. when they visit the Iowa Western Reivers.
