BEATRICE, NE -- In the first day to remind you of October chill, SCC hosted Neosho County Community College on Wednesday. Both the men's and women's teams were held scoreless against the Panthers on a cold, cloudy day in Beatrice.
The women's game was held first, and the Bobcats held their own in the first half. Shorthanded due to injuries, SCC was playing with just eight players on the field. It was entirely a defensive effort from the Bobcats, with Neosho County recording 55 shots, with 32 of them on goal.
Natalie Rowe made 20 saves through 70 minutes.
The final score was 10-0.
For the men, the game was close in the first half. The Bobcats had several opportunities in the final third, but couldn't capitalize against the wind and strong defense. Two Neosho County players were given yellow cards in the first half, as well as SCC's Ryan Hibbins at the 28th minute.
The Panthers scored midway through the first half to take the lead 1-0, which stood at halftime.
In the second half, the Bobcats fought to get back into the game, but quickly fell further. 13 minutes into the second half,
Abdullah Al Fahad was given a red card, leaving SCC with just 10 players for the remainder of the match. Neosho County scored two more goals, and completed the shutout 3-0.Â
SCC goalkeeper
Harrison Walsh recorded 10 saves in the outing, and Samir Sadiqi led the Bobcats with four shots on goal. Al Fahad had three shots on goal before his departure, and
Gabriel Correa also recorded three shots on goal.Â
The Bobcats will next travel to Overland Park, Kansas on Oct. 17, where they will face off with Johnson County Community College.
