The Southeast CC women came out hot and didn't look back as they beat Central CC 75 to 56 Wednesday night at the Lincoln Campus Gym. The Bobcats advance to the Region IX final on Saturday as they travel to play North Platte CC. Southeast improves to 12 and 18 on the season. The Raiders finish the season with a 4 and 23 record.
SCC got offense up and down the line up in the first half. The Bobcats were bolstered by the three as they shot 52% from long range. They hit on 10 of 19 three point attempts and took command. The Raiders mounted a mild comeback in the second half to cut the SCC lead to 7, but couldn't get closer.
Southeast CC was led by Aleziah Anderson with a double-double. She had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jessica Wertenberger and Katlyn Sanders led the team in scoring with 16 points a piece. Southeast came out with full court pressure to force 19 Raider turnovers and many of those miscues turned into points for the Bobcats.
In post game comments, Head Coach Joel Wooton praised his squad. "Alot of people didn't think we could win 12 games this season, much less play for the regional title." The Knights of NPCC have soundly defeated SCC twice this season. Coach Wooton says his team is looking forward for to the third meeting of the season. "We have to try and spread them out. We'll go out there and shoot our shot."
