Jacob Bonander enters his first season as the new Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Cross Country. Originally from Grand Prairie, Texas, Coach Bonander has been part of Southeast Community College for over ten years.

Coach Bonander’s path to coaching begins with his passion for running. He has been engaged with the running community for many years. His running career began in college, where he pursued half marathons while attending the University of Alabama. Now living in Lincoln, Nebraska, he has completed several marathons, ultramarathons, and shorter distance races. He is a regular participant in Lincoln Track Club events, as well as larger running events across the country. Coach Bonander brings all of the knowledge he has gained as a competitive runner into his coaching. He hopes to develop a team of athletes who also want to be lifelong runners and successful students.

In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Bonander is a Communication Studies Instructor and Humanities Co-Chair at SCC’s Lincoln Campus. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies at the University of Alabama in 2012.
